Move over Laughing Cow - there is a new elegant, low calorie spread on the cheese block! I once tried to unwrap a box of Laughing Cow and serve it on a cheese plate with a variety of fine cheeses at a dinner party. (I wanted to have something there to keep my own calories in check). It took about one second for people to catch on - they recognized those famous wedges, and asked me if I was trying to go all "low cal" on them. Well, for nearly the same calories (40 calories versus 35 for Laughing Cow), this really delicate wedge of cheese can be served incognito: now no one will know you are slippin' a little low cal on the plate! It tastes decadent, and gives you something to nibble on guilt-free. This cheese does have a slightly grainy texture compared to regular spreadable cheese, but is still very good. It is very pricey, so beware!

A perfect hybrid of goat cheese and cream cheese - the crumbly texture of goat cheese with the flavor of a light cream cheese. If you like crumbly cheese, then this all natural, 40 calorie will be a cream cheese dream for you. This does have a very natural taste, which is very refreshing if you are used to that, but might taste bland if you are not used to eating natural foods. If you are looking for a natural option, though, this is a delicious low calorie, high protein superstar.

Exquisitely wonderful cheese at an exquisitely exorbatant price. They claim to be the "gold standard" of cheese, and I can see it. It is definitely VERY rich, creamy and smooth. The one thing they don't tout is that this cheese is low in calories: 50 calories for a 30 gram (2 tbsp) serving size - not bad! If you want a more luxurious cheese than Laughing Cow, this has about the same calories/gram (or calorie density). It is also better tasting than Boursin light, which both have out of control prices, so I would go with Chavrie as the best special occasion low cal cheese.

This is very good - rich, high quality. It tastes much better than Alouette light cheese, which could appear to be the exact same thing at first glance at the grocery store, but is not in taste or nutrition. Rondele is much better and much better for you, as it is a good source of calcium and Vitamin A and does not have any HFCS (Alouette does). Overall a good spread, but not as good as my top pick, Chavrie, which is all natural, high in protein and totally fabulous (but expensive, unfortunately).
