These little handy frozen chik'n cutlets cook on the stovetop in a few minutes and are ready to go.
The Taste: I thought they tasted pretty close to chicken although they were a tiny bit rubbery on the very inside. They really were very good except a little too salty for me (they are very high in sodium). I'd say these would be better with a little sauce on top or mixed into a salad.
The Nutrition: Like most veggie substitutes, these are nutritious (high in protein & fiber and no cholesterol). However, they are a little higher in fat than other chik'n options, most likely because they are "cutlets" instead of grilled chik'n.

I've been eyeing this on the shelves for awhile, and I finally got the urge to pick it up and give it a spin.
The Taste: Well, expectedly, when you put goat cheese, cranberries and encrusted chik'n together, you have something that tastes really good. It has plenty of goat cheese, which is a major score. I would want a little more cranberry though, as it seemed sparse. One solution to this problem would be to make a nice reduced red wine or port cranberry sauce to cover it with. I'm going to try that for next time and I'll let you know how it goes! This goes great with a side of whole grain rice, couscous or quinoa.
The Nutrition: This is NOT one of the most healthful veggie substitutes by far. It has way too much sodium, fat, saturated fat and sugar, not to mention it's not even high in protein, and isn't that the whole point of veggie substitutes? Taking all that into account, this isn't something to make a regular habit of eating. It has it's place as a special occasion meal or something that keeps you from heading out the door to Applebee's and doing some really serious damage. ;)
