| Goji is arguably one of the most powerful "superfoods" known. These little berries from the Himalayan mountains have more Vitamin C than oranges, more beta carotene than carrots and more iron than spinach in 1 little ounce! They have 20 trace minerals and 8 amino acids, and have protein as well as soluble fiber. ALL of that, and I can't believe how good these taste. They are like a sweet, dried raspberry, which makes them a nice addition to smoothies, or you can just eat them plain. You want to make sure to pick up the raw powders or berries, as processed ones may not provide the same benefits, which is why I use Navitas brand powder and berries. IMPORTANT: goji berries have been shown to adversely interact with some drugs, so if you are taking medication, consult your doctor before integrating these into your diet. |

| Goji berries are not just an antioxidant and nutrient packed superfruit, they are also an antioxidant and nutrient packed superfruit that pairs up with chocolate quite nicely. SaaWEET! Altogether you get a gigantic serving size of about 76 pieces for 180 calories, which means you can easily eat half for a measly 90 calories. Himalania does a bang up job with these - the dark chocolate (which is also antioxidant rich) that is used has a richly sweet and complex flavor. The goji berries are very soft, which is really saying something because goji berries can be very tough and chewy if you pick the wrong brand. The downside to this desserty snack is the crazy amount of sugar - 23 grams (or 12.5 for a half serving). In the ingredient list there are added sugars, which is a bummer because you get quite enough already from the chocolate-fruit combo. That being said, I did try other brands of chocolate covered goji berries and none were nearly as good as this one. |
