This 5 calorie (for 2 whole tablespoons) all natural dressing is the lowest calorie dressing I could find gram for gram, and it tastes every bit as flavorful as the high calorie balsamic dressings. (Yes, I know Walden Farms dressings are 0 calories but those are so gross, I can't deal). This is for sure the new dressing that will be used in my household. I was using the Wishbone salad spritzers (because they are low calorie and I love the spray), however, for the same 2 tbsp serving size, the Wishbone dressing would have 38 calories (versus Maple Grove Farms 5 calories). Simply no comparison, plus Wishbone dressings have HFCS and artificial sweeteners. This is one of those finds that really makes my week! :)

I found these in the sugar free section of my regular grocery store.

Cultural Revolution's website says that they have developed a yogurt that is very different from all the rest. I have to say I agree, but I'm trying to decide if "different" is a good thing or not. They do not use any stabilizers or thickeners (which means it is more natural and more healthful), so the texture is lumpy and more watery than regular yogurt. It also has a lot less sugar than any other yogurt I've ever found, which is again, more healthful, but not at all what we are used to. Overall it is a little too bland for me (as well as the fact that I prefer high protein, fat free yogurt), however this is a great yogurt for those that are looking for something that is very pure and low calorie. I have been adding it to my smoothies because it tastes just fine blended in with fruit, and it does really keep the smoothie calories in check.

These are great salad toppers! Red beets are also very nutritious...rich in antioxidants (which boosts immunity & prevents vision loss), calcium (maintains healthy bones and teeth), folic acid (prevents folate deficiency and anemia in pregnant women, iron (prevents anemia) and fiber (for digestive health & weight loss). I picked the no salt added, also, because this is something you really can't tell a difference, and it helps to trim out the sodium wherever you can. See Calorista's red beet salad recipe below...

There are the low calorie foods that I only serve myself, and then there are low calorie foods I'm comfortable serving everyone (most of my guests aren't as excited as I am to find a fat free version of a food). This is one of those items that works for everyone - it is by far and away the best balsamic vinegar I've ever tried...but don't just ask me. Just about every person I've had over who has tried this on the salad I served has gone on and on about how great it is. I mix this in with a little walnut oil and I have myself a lower calorie, restaurant quality, gourmet dressing. The best part is I've now found this at places like Walmart, so you can get a reasonable price on a top quality, rich balsamic.
