The Taste: Rice chips are not only a gluten free substitute for tortilla chips, but they can be a tastier option as well. They are lighter and have a hearty, crispy rice chunk texture that make them better than many corn chips. These Lundberg chips are not as flavorful as RiceWorks chips, but they do have less sodium. I'd really like to find all of the Lundberg flavors to taste (see below), as there are some interesting options that sound delicious.

The Nutrition: I was really disappointed that these rice chips were not made from whole grain rice, just brown rice. That takes away the biggest nutritional benefit of rice chips. These are lower in sodium, so that is a plus, but that is just about it in terms of health benefits. Therefore, I'd rather chose RiceWorks chips, as they have whole grains and taste a little better.

The Flavors: Fiesta Lime, Honey Dijon, Nacho Cheese, Original Sea Salt, Pico de Gallo, Santa Fe Barbecue, Sesame Seaweed, Wasabi.

Since Kefir seems to be exponentially multiplying on the shelves these days, I set out to find out why. What better place to start than So Delicious?

The Taste: Hmm...I have a feeling this is one of those items that you love or hate, and it might be hard to know where you fall until you try it. It is sort of like a yogurt spritzer. Kefir has fermented cultures that sour it, which creates a slight carbonation effect (even though it is not actually carbonated). The result is a bubbly, tart and somewhat bitter liquid yogurt. I really liked this (being the carbonated drink junkie that I am), but my husband thought it was “like drinking Kaopectate”. Oh well, you can’t please everyone I guess. ;) I loved the idea of getting the benefits of yogurt in an easy, peppy drink. One thing that is very surprising to me is that this does not taste like coconut at all. Everything else that I've tried from So Delicious (non dairy milks, yogurt, creamers and ice cream) has a very strong, wonderful coconut taste (given that it is made from coconuts). This simply tastes like its flavor, which in this case is a nice, mellow French Vanilla (possibly the fermenting process takes away the natural coconut flavor?).

The Nutrition: This is a must-have for those following a vegetarian/vegan diet. It is a great source of vitamin B12, something that is very much needed for vegetarians/vegans. This drink is especially fantastic for vegans, as it is also a great source of calcium and probiotics...two things you usually get from dairy. If you are looking for a quick way to get the benefits of yogurt with added fiber (from inulin) and fewer calories, this is a great option. Although this is high in sugar, it is relatively low when compared to most yogurts.

The Flavors: This also comes in Strawberry (that has chunks of real strawberries in it) and Original.

This WEEK: Foods for a Chocolate Fix

A friend was kind enough to give me a bag of Ghirardelli peanut butter chocolates awhile back. As I went to put them away, I decided to eat “just one” so I could, you know, politely let the friend know how delicious they were. I’m sure we all know where this story is going. A whole huge bunch of chocolates (I have no idea how many, it’s all a big blur, really) and a terrible tummy ache later, I decided to arm myself with a list of the best options for a heathful chocolate fix...
